Getting started

Create or claim your listing

New: sign up at /vendor/signup with your company name, location, categories, and a short description. Live immediately, no card. Or claim an existing listing: search for your business, click "claim this listing", verify by email - your existing data stays intact.

Either way, the listing itself is free forever.

Get verified

Submit your Companies House registration number. We confirm your company is registered and active, then add a Verified badge to your profile.

Verification is free and typically completes within one business day. It significantly increases customer trust and enquiry conversion.

Add products and links

Beyond the equipment list, add individual products with rental tariffs (per hour/day/week/month/fixed), sale prices and condition, photos, and external links to your booking system or shop.

Each product can be set up for rent, sale, or both. Customers see "Rent now" / "Buy now" buttons that deep-link to your own platform when set.

Receive enquiries

Customers find your listing via search or browse and send enquiries through your profile. You receive an email notification immediately with the customer's name, contact details, and message. Reply directly by email or phone.

On enquiry-led work the contract is between you and the customer and GetBrent takes no platform fee. If you opt into a booking, checkout or shop tool we offer (Coastr integration or our own first-party tooling), the fee structure is disclosed at the point you opt in; the underlying hire or sale contract still sits with you.

Setting up a strong listing

Four levers that move enquiry volume.

Description: 200-500 words

Cover what kit or services you offer, what is distinctive about you, and what kind of jobs you typically take. Avoid filler like "we are the best in the area"; give specifics.

Equipment list: be specific

One item per line, with sizes and brands. "8x5 flatbed trailer", "1.5T mini digger", "Ford Transit tipper" beats generic terms.

Photos that convert

Cover image: 1200 x 400 px (3:1), the visual hook on your card. A clean shot of your most distinctive kit or yard works best. Plus a square logo.

Postcode and opening hours

Full postcode improves distance accuracy. Outcode (e.g. NW10) is a fallback. Customers filter on opening hours - keep them current.

Adding products

Highlight specific kit with prices, photos, and links.

Per-product rental tariffs

Five rate slots: per hour, per day, per week, per month, fixed. Fill any subset. Customers see only the tariffs you publish.

For rent / for sale / both

Each product picks a listing type. "Both" shows both panels in the form and on the public card, with separate prices and conditions.

Booking and shop URLs

Set vendor-level booking and shop URLs on your listing edit page, or per-product URLs that override the vendor-level fallback for specific items.

Visibility toggle

Each product side has an "available" checkbox. Untick to hide a rent or sale option temporarily without losing the data.

GetBrent verification confirms you are a registered, active UK business. It is free and takes less than a minute to submit.

What you need

  • Companies House registration number (CRN)
  • Company name matching Companies House records
  • Active company status

Sole traders and partnerships without a CRN can still list - verification is optional but strongly recommended.

Is the free tier really free forever?+

Yes. We make money from Featured upgrades, not from charging you to be in the directory.

Are there commission fees on rentals or sales?+

On enquiry-led transactions, no - the contract is between you and the customer and GetBrent does not see the money. If you opt into a booking, checkout or shop tool we offer (Coastr integration or first-party tooling, now or in future), the fee structure for that tool is disclosed at the point you opt in. Either way, the hire or sale contract sits with you.

Can I list both rent and sale on the same business?+

Yes. Set your listing type to "Both" and your products can each be rent, sale, or both.

What if my company name has changed?+

Edit it via the listing form. If you are also Verified, re-run the Companies House check after the change.

What if I have multiple depots?+

List each as a separate vendor under the same account, or list one and put the other locations in your description. Multi-depot search is on the roadmap.

How do I get more enquiries?+

In order of impact: get Verified, complete your description and equipment list, add Featured, add photos, set up booking and shop URLs.

Where do I see analytics?+

Dashboard - stats blocks at the top. Featured tier gets richer breakdowns.

I want to bulk-import my product catalogue.+

CSV import is on the way. For now, products go in one at a time via the dashboard. If you have hundreds of products tell us via the contact page.
