For customers
Find the right rental or sales company,
right now
No account. No fees. No middlemen. Search the UK's directory of verified rental and sales businesses, send an enquiry in 30 seconds, and rent or buy direct.
How it works
Search or browse
Type plain English on the homepage ("I need a flatbed trailer near Manchester next weekend") or browse by category. Our AI parses your query so you do not need to know the right category name. You can also search by postcode, full or partial (NW10 works).
Filters: location, category, listing type (rent / buy / both), verified-only, has-website. Results sort by featured first, then proximity, then alphabetical.
Compare listings
Each card shows the company name, location, categories, what they offer, and a verified badge if applicable. Featured companies have priority placement and a yellow border. Click a card to see the full profile: photos, opening hours, equipment, products with prices, and reviews where present.
A product card may show a "Rent or Buy" badge when the same item is available both ways. Click into the product detail to see all rental tariffs (per hour, day, week, month, fixed) and sale price with condition.
Send an enquiry
Use the enquiry form on the vendor profile to tell them what you need: item, dates, anything else relevant. The message goes directly to the vendor with your contact details. You get an instant email confirmation.
Most vendors reply within a few working hours during business hours. Out-of-hours messages typically get a same-or-next-day response.
Rent or buy direct
The vendor responds with availability, pricing, and next steps. The contract for the hire or purchase is between you and the vendor. GetBrent makes the introduction; for enquiry-led conversations we never touch payment, deposits, or the contract itself.
Some listings let you book or buy through a tool we provide - either a third-party booking partner like Coastr or our own first-party checkout. In those cases GetBrent facilitates the transaction as a platform intermediary, but the contract for the underlying hire or purchase is still between you and the vendor.
Searching effectively
Four ways to find what you need.
Conversational queries
Include what, where, when, and (for transport) origin and destination. Brent will ask follow-up questions if anything important is missing.
Category browse
Pick from Trailers, Tools, Plant Machinery, Specialist Vehicles, Storage, Removals & Logistics, or Clearance & Disposal. Each category page has its own filter bar.
Location search
Click "Use my location" on any category page or type a UK postcode. Partial postcodes (outcodes like NW10) work as a fallback.
Listing type filter
Toggle between Rent, Buy, or Both to narrow results when you specifically want one or the other.
Knowing whether you want to rent or buy
Some vendors offer the same product both for rent and for sale. Product cards show one of three badges:
- Rent rentable.
- Buy available to purchase.
- Both the same item, two ways to acquire it.
When a product offers both, you will see rental prices (per hour, day, week, month, or fixed - whichever the vendor publishes) and the sale price with condition. Where the vendor has set up a booking system or shop, the buttons deep-link there for self-service.
What does “Verified” mean?
Companies House registered
Verified vendors have confirmed their company registration number with Companies House. This means they are a legitimate, registered UK business - not an individual or sole trader operating informally.
Active UK business
We check the company status is “Active” at the time of verification. Verified listings carry a blue badge. Always check a vendor's own insurance and licences for the specific equipment you need.
GetBrent verification confirms business registration only. We do not verify insurance, equipment condition, operator qualifications, or financial standing. Always do your own due diligence before renting or buying.
What you typically need
Requirements vary by vendor and category. This is a general guide - always confirm with the vendor before travelling.
Trailer rental
- Valid UK driving licence with appropriate towing entitlement
- Vehicle with sufficient towing capacity (check your V5 or handbook)
- Towbar fitted to your vehicle
- Adequate insurance covering towing
Plant and machinery
- Relevant CPCS or NPORS card for operated plant (often not required for self-operated small plant)
- Business or personal rental insurance
- Site-specific risk assessment if required by the vendor
Tool rental
- Valid ID, typically a driving licence or passport
- A deposit (varies by tool value)
- Familiarity with safe operation - vendors may ask
Specialist vehicles
- Correct licence category for the vehicle class
- CPC qualification if required for commercial use
- Insurance covering the vehicle category
Storage
- Valid ID
- Contents insurance recommended; some vendors require it
Troubleshooting
The vendor has not responded
Wait at least one full working day. Check your spam folder for the confirmation email; replies may also go there. Phone if a number is on the listing. If still nothing, contact us with the vendor name and the date you sent the enquiry.
The listing seems out of date
Vendors maintain their own listings. If contact details look wrong, prices look stale, or a vendor appears to no longer be trading, contact us under "Customer support: Listing seems incorrect". We follow up.
I cannot find what I need
Try a broader query, a wider radius, or adjacent categories (a removals vendor may have a tipper; a plant company may have storage). Contact us if you still cannot find anyone - we sometimes know vendors not yet listed.
Disputes after the rental or sale
The contract for the hire or purchase is between you and the vendor; GetBrent is not the supplier. For disputes you cannot resolve directly, contact us under "Customer support: Refund or dispute" and we will try to mediate. Where the booking or payment ran through a tool we operate (Coastr integration or our own checkout), we may also be able to help on the payment side; the underlying service contract remains between you and the vendor.
Safety and due diligence
GetBrent verification confirms business registration only. Before any substantial transaction:
- Ask the vendor for proof of insurance covering the equipment and use.
- For plant and specialist vehicles, ask about service records and recent inspections (LOLER, PUWER as applicable).
- Check operator qualifications if the vendor is providing labour with the kit.
- Read the rental agreement carefully. Pay attention to deposit terms, damage policy, and out-of-hours fees.
- For high-value rentals, ensure your own insurance covers the asset while in your possession.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to search or send an enquiry?+
No. Search, browsing, and the enquiry form are all open to anyone. Accounts are for vendors managing their listings.
Is GetBrent free for customers?+
Yes. There are no fees for searching, browsing, or sending enquiries.
How are search results ranked?+
Featured vendors appear first, then by distance (when a location is set) or alphabetically. Within those tiers, route-based searches use a topic-relevance boost.

My business is in the directory and I did not put it there+
Most listings were imported from public sources. You can claim and take control of yours - look for the "claim this listing" button on your business's public page, or contact us and we will sort it.
