What identification do I need to hire tools?

1st Hire will typically require a valid photo ID (driving licence or passport) and proof of address. A deposit - either cash or on card - is usually held during the hire period.

Are tools delivered or do I collect?

1st Hire offers both collection from their depot and delivery to site for larger items. Smaller tools are generally collect-only. Contact them to confirm availability and any delivery charges.

What happens if a hired tool breaks down during use?

If a tool develops a fault through normal use, 1st Hire will replace it as quickly as possible at no extra charge. Report any issues immediately - do not attempt to repair hired equipment yourself.

Do I need training to operate hired plant machinery?

For most plant machinery - including mini diggers, dumpers, and telehandlers - formal CPCS or NPORS certification is not legally required for private use. However, 1st Hire may require proof of competence for commercial use, and always recommends operator training for safety.

What is included in the hire price?

1st Hire's hire price typically includes the machine, standard wear items, and basic breakdown cover. Fuel, operator costs (unless operated hire), and transport to site are usually charged separately. Confirm what is included when you enquire.
