What size skip do I need?

Do I need a permit to place a skip on the road?
Yes - if the skip will sit on a public road, pavement, or verge, you (or the hire company) need a skip permit from your local council. Permits typically cost £30-£60 and take 3-5 working days to issue. Placing a skip on private property such as a driveway does not require a permit.
What waste can I put in a skip?
Most household and construction waste is accepted in a standard skip. Items not allowed include: asbestos, tyres, paint tins (unless dry), fridges/freezers, batteries, medical waste, and hazardous chemicals. Ask your hire company what is accepted before you fill the skip.
