How much is it to store a caravan in the UK?

Caravan storage in the UK is priced site by site, and the monthly charge depends on the site's location, the outfit's length, whether it is covered, its CaSSOA security level and its access hours.

What drives the price of caravan storage

When you request quotes, compare sites that offer the same level of cover, security and access, or the comparison will not tell you much.

Why CaSSOA security levels matter

A site's level tells you what protection is in place, so ask which award it holds before you book.

Parking a caravan at home or on the road

Storing a caravan on a public road is not a cheap workaround. Devon County Council states that it does not permit caravans or trailers to be stored on the highway, and that it may issue a notice and remove them. The Highway Code says trailers must not be left on a road at night without lights. The Highway Code is clear on the lighting point: other vehicles and trailers must not be left on a road at night without lights.

Checklist before you book a storage site

  1. Measure the outfit's length and height, and give the exact dimensions to the site.
  2. Ask whether the site holds a CaSSOA award, and which level.
  3. Confirm whether your caravan would be covered or uncovered.
  4. Check the access hours, especially if you need to get in at short notice.
  5. Ask for the monthly charge and any extra fees in writing, and confirm them with the company.
  6. If you are storing at home, check your deeds for restrictive clauses first.
